Brunton Theatre receives annual funding from East Lothian Council and is managed by East Lothian Council on behalf of Brunton Theatre Trust. The Brunton Theatre Trust was established in 1994. The current list of Trustees (2010/11) is:

Creative Scotland supports the dance programme and also provides project funding for specific activities.

The Theatre refurbishment in 1996 was funded by the European Development Fund, Scottish Arts Council National Lottery Fund and East Lothian Council.

The Friends of Brunton Theatre actively fundraise for the Theatre. Projects funded include the Box Office system, external display cabinets and Brunton Youth Theatre.
